Susan Hastings Lohmann learned to ride hunt seat at age 7 and proceeded through show ponies, Pony Club, Junior Hunters, and Horse Trials. She went off to Gettysburg College with a horse in tow, where she earned her B.A. in Psychology, and then her M. Ed. from West Chester University. Since then, she has been coaching and teaching children and adults for over 40 years, and is dedicated to her philosophy of good horsemanship, proper training, and successful teamwork between horse and rider. She has many years of experience coaching hunters and equitation at rated horse shows, including local series, indoors, and year-end finals. She has a special interest in side saddle and has shown in such competitions for 25 years. Susan has spent over 30 years judging local and rated horse shows, and has her "R" in Hunt Seat Equitation, Hunters, and Hunter Breeding.
